Lots to talk about, but mainly: Happy New Year! You probably have a killer dream in place – maybe one or two goals in mind. I was talking with a friend recently who said she was looking for a 9-5 job. But then I asked her what her goals were for this year. They were to travel and to have job flexibility. Well – those two things don’t really fit into working a regular corporate job. So why was she trying to do that when her ultimate goals for 2018 were totally opposite?
A lot of us get stuck in the “when I grow up” phase – I’ll do that when I grow up! It’d be nice to do that someday, or go there someday. As we get older we realize that “someday” is going to come and go. If you want it to happen, you need to make a game plan.

Oftentimes Small Business Owners fall into the trap of feeling that it is imperative to have a right-hand man or woman that is an employee of the business. It feels like a natural next step, and a lot of us are natural born leaders, so we are eager for someone to lead.
If you have a brick and mortar, Business to Consumer business model that can make sense. You need someone to man the store while you’re away and want someone you can depend on. Totally fine. If you have a service based, Business to Business model though – think again. If you are the face of the business, if you and your brain and services are what people are paying for, do you really need a full time or part time employee?
When I decided I wanted guidance, focus, and direction in my life I really did not know where to begin. I looked all over for resources, but ultimately I had such a difficult time finding the right kind of inspiration. You don’t have to plan every single day in your life, but you really should at the very least have monthly goals to keep you on track. Things come up, obviously, but having a broad overview of the month and knowing what you need to accomplish (big or small!) is something every successful person does.
